In this transformation we apply our Agile Program/Train Quick-Start and Lift-Up Concepts (Training and Coaching). This is about putting in place a new lean-agile organization of multiple teams effectively working together on common targets including ensuring the train increases its performance over time.

Teams that work well together towards a common business vision is the basis of any successful business or delivery unit. This is harder than we may think, and requires new lean-agile ways of working if we want to be able to compete in an increasingly complex and uncertain world.

Expected Benefits:

You can see the average (independent measurements) Business results to the right. Using our quick-start concepts, we have seen even better results on both team and multi-team level. Reaching these forms of business results, will make the journey well worth, many times around.

1: Train Quick-Start

The Train Quick Start concept is a key component in our system for rapid and sustainable organizational improvement. Through a series of well defined and successfully proven workshops, courses and common planning, consulting and coaching we Quick-Start the train. The events can be divided up into three primary work streams:

  • Organizational Design
  • Business Backlog Building
  • Training of Scrum Masters, Product Owners including the Chief Scrum Master and Chief Product Owner.

As a Scaled Agile SPCT Gold Partner we follow SAFe®’s model for implementation and adding our unique experience and other best practices outside of SAFe®. E.g. we add more product, and business focus. We also have a stronger focus on building innovation capacity and establishing an entrepreneurial spirit within the teams.

2: Reap the Benefits

After getting started using the quick-start concept, we will focus on reaping the benefits by driving home the expected benefits. Examples of areas to focus on are:

  • Establish an organization with a predictable rhythm and synchronization – simply put a delivery organization you can trust.
  • Put in place new ways of working to visualize cross-organizational dependencies, minimize them, and deal with them in a professional manner
  • Establish a well-functioning Product/Train Backlog management-structure, ensuring the train has a clear common target and a strong Product Owner-structure.
  • A well-defined product strategy and product definition is crucial to be able to create value, satisfied customers and stakeholder.
  • Continuously improve and tune the train, to ensure you realize the benefits in practical reality.
  • Advanced role training and coaching. Higher performance in the long term in the train requires development of both leaders and team members.
  • Agile architecture and technical ways of working. Successful agile ways of working require much more depth than popular starting packages such as Scrum. Such start packages are great, but are not enough if you want to reap all of the potential business benefits.
